Supported Employment
In 1996 Mambourin Enterprises set up business services to provide supported employment opportunities for people with a disability in the Western Suburbs.
Mambourin business services' employees are employed under an industrial agreement or award approved by the Industrial Relations Commission. Individual wage assessments are carried out to assess a fair level of pay. These assessments are carried out by independent assessors using the Supported Wages System.
People on Productivity Based Wages are entitled to all other award benefits such as sick leave and annual holidays. Wage assessments are reviewed regularly to ensure that they take into account changes in the productivity of employees.
Mambourin will accept people with any disability provided that our resources are adequate to provide adequate ongoing support and there is an available vacancy.
Mambourin currently operates five business services including:
Mambourin Sensory Garden
Mambourin Sensory Garden was set up in 1997 and involves a team of workers maintaining a large sensory garden and operating it as a business. The team also takes on contract maintenance and landscaping work in the wider community.
Mambourin Café
Mambourin Café is based in the Sensory Garden and opened in 2003. It provides morning and afternoon tea and light lunches. It can also be booked for functions at night. [Brochure pdf 2.31MB]
Mambourin Packaging & Assembly
A packaging and assembly team was set up in 1998. This team takes on a wide range of packaging, assembly and collating work for business customers. [Brochure pdf 2.31MB]
Mambourin Cleaning Services
A team doing cleaning work at RAAF Williams Bases at Laverton and Point Cook. This team of five workers is supervised by a Mambourin staff member but is working under contract for another commercial operation.
