Fresh facilities for Melton Community Hub

In mid-2019 we purchased an exciting new facility for our Melton Community Hub. The site had lots of potential but needed a substantial renovation to get it fit for purpose. Despite unforeseen delays, not to mention the global pandemic, we were able to get the hub fully renovated and looking fantastic.

Works on the site commenced in June 2020. As the building was previously used as a bar and restaurant, the renovations involved stripping out most of the existing internal fittings.

We then constructed seven large individual program rooms, an additional kitchen, and DDA (Disability Discrimination Act) compliant bathroom with a ceiling hoist and change table.

Constructing individual program rooms

In February 2021, the major renovations were finally complete, and we started operating from the new site on 9 March. Our Melton community members have settled in well and have been enjoying the brand-new facilities.

We still have a few more plans for the hub, including creating a dedicated woodwork area and converting the commercial kitchen into a space where we can run cooking and café programs. So, watch this space!

An Open Day was held on 17 May. This was an opportunity for parents and carers to visit the hub and see some of our programs in action in the new space. We’d also like to thank Cr Bob Turner for speaking at the event, and the Mambourin Choir and Leaping Legs Hip Hop Crew for their fantastic performances.
