Day Services
Mambourin provides individualised support to more than 350 people over the age of 18 through group and individual activities across the western suburbs of Melbourne. These facilities provide for a full suite of programs that are individually designed and structured as per our individual service user’s needs. Whether it be for educational purposes, to learn life skills, gain vocational experiences or to simply have fun, Mambourin can tailor a program that suits the individual.
At Mambourin our staff adopt a person centred approach to planning our day programs. Working with service users we develop individualised programs that focus on physical, emotional and cognitive needs. Our planning framework is used to encourage both service user and family involvement.
In addition to traditional Day Service programing Mambourin also offers programs called STEP (Supported Transition to Employment) and Get READY (Get Respect, Empowerment, Achievement and Development for Youth). These programs aim to assist with the post-school transitional period for young people with intellectual disabilities and to provide focus in a number of different life areas. It is envisaged that this will prepare young people with the necessary skills and confidence to pursue further vocational interests in the next stage of life.
Mambourin designs and delivers supports to people with a disability in accordance with a range of legislation, including the Disability Act 2006 (“the Act”). The Act describes the rights and responsibilities of both the person with a disability and the service provider and is designed to assist in achieving inclusive supports for the people that we support.
