SLES BLOG 2025

Easter day

  • On Wednesday 16 April, SLES participants, supported employees and staff members were invited from Brittany for Easter morning tea. There were many bread, seasonal hot cross buns, fruits and Easter egg chocolates as well as orange juice, tea, coffee and hot chocolate. For SLES participants only, we did fun activities on maths shopping, colouring in and word searches.

Anzac coverage

  • Last week on a Wednesday, only Kayla and I turned up and we watched the history of ANZAC events with Julie. The task was information along with the worksheet to fill in blanks and short answers. For our practical task, we baked white/brown choc cookies in the oven from the packet. They were tasty and crunchy.

Ability Works incursion

  • On Wednesday 9 April, a special visitor from a disability employment provider ‘Jon’ came to us for future suggestions for work we could do in the future. We discussed having different interests of doing things like packing or caring for someone. He is a good man.

Mambourin Derrimut Work Experience

  • On Tuesdays, we mostly work on QUEST chips and some of us are doing Australia Post boxes. I really liked working on the QUEST chips, because it is fun and enjoyable.

Class days

  • On Mondays, we see Destiny for working on goals and opportunities as well as the modules for the assessment. We are able to share values and aspects of confidence by providing our feedback in discussions. We are learning that it is necessary to be aware of the choices before accepting them or not. These classes help us to increase skills and knowledge for the world of work. On Wednesdays, we see Julie for looking at cover letter/resume writing and different types of industries that involves us getting a feel for the specific career. On Wednesday’s class is impressive and interesting. All lessons are super helpful.
