SLES blog: Build your social skills with SLES

Nathan and Keyannah, SLES participants

Tristan and Keyannah explain how doing the SLES program is not only helping them to prepare for the world of work, but also assisting them to build confidence and develop their people skills.

We were warehouse trainees in Derrimut first. We liked the sound of the SLES course so we joined the year after. We made friends with the other SLES guys and with each other. We learnt how and what kind of job we want to do and how to keep it.

Keyannah and I went to Warringa Park School who helped us to find a job in the past with work experience. The reason we go to SLES is to find a job by trying different work experiences.

I found confidence with SLES and school by making new friends. We got to know new people and they have become our friends now. Keyannah feels relaxed and calm with meeting new people; and I am not shy anymore with the new friends from SLES. I feel relaxed and calm. I have a little stress going for my driving licence but lucky for me I have more time on my hands to practice and I practice the tests during my class time in SLES.
